Helen G. Drinan, a South Boston resident and president of Simmons College, will be honored by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts as one of the organization’s “Leading Women.”
Drinan is just one of five honorees that will be recognized for their leadership at the group’s 22nd Leading Women Awards Breakfast set for November 7, according to a release from the organization.
“Each year Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts honors remarkable leaders who have made a positive impact through their career and in the community,” Ruth N. Bramson, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts, said in a statement. “The Leading Women Awards is a way for our girls to meet great role models like Helen and for our supporters to learn how Girl Scouts is creating future women leaders.”
Prior to taking the helm at Simmons in 2008, Drinan served as senior vice president of human resources at Caritas Christi Health Care.
The award seeks to highlight those in the community who are excellent role models and who have excelled in their own fields.
Other honorees include Denise Kaigler, senior vice president of corporate affairs and communications for the Boston Scientific Corporation; Joyce Maroney, senior director of customer experience and services marketing for Kronos, Inc.; Sheila Lirio Marcelo, founder and CEO of CARE.com; and Leading Man, Mayor Thomas M. Menino.
The award breakfast will take place at the Sheraton Boston Hotel.
