Starting at $25,000...

I don't care how much money you have. I thought I had seen the extreme end of birthday-party excess when I wrote this column two years ago in response to the reality show, "My Super Sweet 16." Guess not.

By the way, if you're a parent who can afford to throw this party, try this instead: Give your daughter a list of charities to choose from and make a contribution in her honor.

And thanks to the reader who pointed out the FAO party.
