A pretty sleek week

We don't know about you, but August had us nodding off into our mojitos. Relaxation's one thing. Slack-jaw boredom is something else. Clearly, party-planning types felt the same, because September has gotten off to a brisk start, with one stylish shindig after another.

The opening of the chic new Natick Collection accounted for several fetes last week, as boldface names sipped champagne, eyed the merch, and checked for goat cheese on their Hermes ties. We don't know who was busier: the air-kissing PR mavens or the sweaty valets running to fetch yet another Porsche Cayenne.

The retooled Boston Fashion Week also has fashionistas in a dither, with panels, parties, and after-parties to attend. (It wraps up tomorrow.) Style Spy got a dose of runway revelry at the Michael De Paulo Couture show at the Taj Boston.

But perhaps our favorite scene was the Cut & Paste Digital Design event at the Roxy, where some of the area's best graphic designers competed for top honors. - HAYLEY KAUFMAN AND SUZANNE RYAN

What brought you to the party tonight? I dressed the mother and father of the designer for a wedding once. I wanted to support him.

What are you wearing? The jacket is Joe Casely-Hayford and the shirt is Donna Karan Couture. I have champagne taste. Don't ask me where I bought them.

Now I have to ask. Where? I like the Basement, places like that. I shop everywhere.

What is your favorite store in town? Riccardi's on Newbury Street.

What do you have on your iPod? 768 songs, from Jane Olivor to Barry Manilow.

JINNIE KIM, 51
Residence:
Brookline

Occupation: Interior designer

What are you wearing? The dress is Akris Couture and the shoes are Christian Dior. The handbag is also Dior.

What do you normally wear? I only wear Chanel and Armani. My friend asked me to wear this dress. I forgot I had it.

What was the last movie you saw? That's not a good question for me. I travel all the time.

What was the last book you read? That's not a good question. I work all the time.

You have to eat. What's your favorite restaurant? Hmm, I like Via Matta.

SHEHAB HOSSAIN, 34

New York

Why are you here? I'm one of the architects for the [Natick Collection]. I'm one of the technical architects. I had to figure out how to make the building stand and not fall.

Tell me about what you're wearing: I'm from Bangladesh, hence the garb. I had this made. I do a lot of fashion design, so I did this on my own.

Have you been in Boston before? I went to school here in Boston.

So wait, don't tell me. You went to Harvard. Only people who went to Harvard say they "went to school in Boston." Oh, God no. I went to Wentworth. They're the people who really get the work done.

ASHLEY BERNON, 29
Residence:
Back Bay

What do you do? Mother, wife, philanthropist, real estate agent for Boston Realty Advisors. We do high-end properties.

Like, say, Tom Brady's place? (Laughs.) No, not Tom Brady's but very high-end.

So, is this a good time to buy? Isn't the market a little iffy? I think it's pretty stable, actually. They presold the Mandarin [Oriental], and the retail space is gone, too. In my opinion, it'll be the best expansion to Back Bay.

Who are you wearing? Armani pants, Ralph Lauren top, Oscar de la Renta shoes.

Best movie you’ve seen recently: Oh, "Knocked Up." It was hilarious.

LINDSAY ZIR, 31

Residence: West Hollywood, but I'm a Sherborn native.

What do you do? I'm an actress.

Why are you here? I'm visiting my parents. I'm back about three or four times a year. And this is my old Natick Mall!

Who are you wearing? The dress is Marc by Marc Jacobs. Jimmy Choos. And a Coach clutch. I was inspired by a photo I saw of the '20s. Can you tell I'm into fashion? My first word was "shoe."

So, you're an actress. Do you prefer movies or stage? All of it. I have a Chevy ad right now with Mary J. Blige. I finished an off-Broadway play. I do it all.

AUTUMN AHN, 21

Residence: Brookline

Why are you here tonight? A bunch of my friends are in the show, and it's cool to see the creative process.

Are you a graphic designer? I'm a senior in painting at BU and a curatorial intern at Axiom Gallery in Jamaica Plain.

Who are you wearing? The shoes are from LF on Newbury Street. I'm not sure of the name, but they have great customer service. The shirt is from H&M in Italy. The necklace is a water buffalo tooth from my best friend, Holly.

Best movie you've seen recently? "City of God." It's just good storytelling, and the Portuguese language is just beautiful.

KIRA HUSEBY, 30
Residence:
South End

Why are you here tonight? My friends are working the event.

What do you do? I'm a singer. I'm in a band called BQEZ.

So really, you're a singer full-time? My second job is software developer, CRM and VPN software.

What are you wearing? I like color, I like pattern, and I like vintage. And I have a bangle addiction. The shirt is an Italian designer - I got it at Second Time Around - and it's layered with a black tee. The pants are H&M. Franco Sarto shoes.

Mac or PC? Tough call. My artistic side says Mac - that's what I have at home - but the PC pays the bills. So I have to say both.
