Denim designer and Rhode Island native Michelle Siwy, photographed on New York's Lower East Side -- the neighborhood where she lives and from which she draws inspiration.
Siwy launched her eponymous label in the spring of 2005 in downtown NYC. Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson, Hilary Duff, and other stars have all been spotted in her denim designs. (Elizabeth Lippman for the Boston Globe)
