The shades of summer
Ray-Ban Wayfarers
Ray-Ban Wayfarers are back (cue Don Henley's "Boys of Summer"). Since the company began reissuing the original shades late last year, young Hollywood -- from Ashley Olsen to The Killers' Brandon Flowers -- has embraced the classic chunky glasses.
Wayfarers were first manufactured in 1952 and championed by Audrey Hepburn (pictured), James Dean, and other hip tastemakers. The shades were also a fashion staple in the '80s, alongside big bangs and shoulderpads. (Text by Courtney Hollands/Boston.com producer) (File photo)
