Still unsure of weekend plans? Never fear. The 2007 Pet Fashion Week kicks off in NYC tomorrow at the Metropolitan Pavilion. (You and your hairless Chihuahua, Snoodles, can thank me later.)

Yep, not only can you catch runway shows featuring the latest ready-to-wear doggie duds, you can snag $10,000 alligator-skin collars, extravagant carriers, and perfume for your pampered pets. Just try not to roll your eyes.

The green, green glass of home

Finally, I know what's happening with all of the wine bottles that I've been recycling (and trust me, there have been plenty). Artecnica has introduced a line called tranSglass designed by Emma Woffenden and Tord Boontje. It's great to see the original shape and color of the bottles cleverly reshaped into candleholders. They've also designed them as vases and tumbler sets.

Wisconsin-based Green Glass Co. is recycling Mexican beer bottles and turning them into tumbler sets. Not as arty as the Artecnica goods, but still charming in its own South-of-the-Border fashion.

Framed!

Sidesplitting comedienne Amy Sedaris showed up at the premiere of "Dedication" last night sporting some pretty thick frames:

Ooo wee ooo, she looks just like Buddy Holly (Sorry I couldn't resist.) I actually love this bold look -- it's a touch Harry Potter, but the intense frames accent her eyes without overwhelming her face.

Can't say the same for her "Magic Eye" peasant top, unfortunately...

Sale at Urban - yipee!

Yes, Stylephilers, I know the summer is waning. The days are getting shorter, the sun getting weaker, etc. But, personally, I'm going to make the most out of August by wearing my whole new wardrobe from Urban Outfitters, purchased over the weekend ;) The bargain basement in Harvard Square is literally a treasure trove of adorable mini-dresses and t-shirt shifts at the moment -- in teals, purples, yellows, and great prints.

One of my favorite steals:

Very Natalie Portman, circa 2005 Oscars
-- minus the whole Lanvin-sheer-gold part. Okay, so I just really like the shape and the color and the way the viscose drapes. Oh and the $29.99 price tag.

Hurry and you too could scoop up some deals to make what's left of summer absolutely stylish.

These plates from notNeutral are educational, sort of. Once you've finished dinner, you can study maps of cities such as Dubai, Washington DC, and New Orleans.

Mostly, however, they just look extemely fetching. It would be nice to see a Boston plate in this batch (hint, hint).

Poketo, which collaborates with artists to make wallets and T-shirts, introduced a collaboration with Tokyo-based artist PCP on these melamine plates. It looks like granny's china attended a hip-hop festival and got a grafitti makeover.

Stuck up

Also spotted yesterday at the New York International Gift Fair, these giant stickers, pardon, pieces of wall art, from a new company called Butch & Harold. Sisters Michele and Ariane Gold made the 25-by-25-inch images that can be stuck to walls without damaging paint or plaster. You can even peel them and stick them somewhere else when you have had enough of a dog in your den.

According to Michele, the idea behind Butch & Harold was to create wall art that was already framed and could be easily hung in urban apartments without damaging walls. There are six designs (more are coming soon), and they sell for $50 and $55.

Hey Twiggy

I'm normally Teflon when it comes to jewelry. I have no interest whatsoever. But yesterday while walking through the New York International Gift Show, I spotted jewelry that absolutely stopped me in my tracks. Laura Baxter's handmade work is so lovely that I'm going to legally change my name to Tequila Mockingbird and become a drag queen simply so I can have an excuse to wear lady's jewelry.

Fortunately she also makes wall hangings and bowls, so I suppose I can forgo the drag route, for now. Her work sells at Motto in Cambridge, Essentia in Chestnut Hill, and the Museum of Fine Art.
