"Risky Bangs-ness"

By Courtney Hollands

(O.K., so the title of this entry might be a stretch. I spent a good five minutes trying to combine "bangs" and Tom Cruise's bigger movies into one pithy phrase: "Top Bangs," "Vanilla Fringe," "Eyes Grazed Shut"? As you can see, my options were limited. Anyways.)

Of course, Katie Holmes looked gorgeous at the premiere of hubby Tom Cruise's "Lion for Lambs" earlier this week. There are many things I question about Maverick — his erratic behavior, his promotion of Scientology, to name two — but after seeing this picture, all I can think about are his bangs:

[Shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen: Give me down to there, hair!]

They just look so wholesome, so perfectly coiffed. Tom must have spent hours on the fringe — it's very middle-aged dad, and there's nothing wrong with that, considering that he is middle-aged and he is a dad (of Suri, the tiniest fashion plate of them all!). Come to think of it, he almost looks like Katie's old man in this photo. But that's a whole other story.

After my own heart

Target's past partnerships with accessories designers — like Devi Kroell or Hollywould — just haven't done it for me. Most of the materials seemed cheap (and more importantly, looked cheap).

However, Target is a wily little devil, always full of surprises. Like this one:

[Beau coeur = Beautiful heart. My sentiments exactly.]

The national retailer has launched a collaboration with jewelry designer-to-the-stars, Dominique Cohen (And by stars I mean Brittany Murphy, Anne Hathaway, and Judith Light. Yes, that Judith Light). The sweet ring above is one of the best pieces, and the "Beau Coeur" design comes in a pendant necklace, drop earrings, or a bangle as well.

And the Target pieces cost thousands less than Cohen's usual 18K gold and gemstone creations.
