ARLINGTON
A Memorial Day parade is planned for Monday, May 28, at 9:30 a.m., beginning at the Walgreens parking lot on Mass. Ave. in East Arlington across from Adams and Allen Streets. The parade will end at Monument Park in Arlington Center where services will be held and wreaths will be hung. Marchers will reform on Mass. Ave and continue to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for services to commemorate the deceased veterans of all wars.
BARNSTABLE
From 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 25, there will be a Memorial Day program at the Barnstable Senior Center. There will also be a Memorial Day program at the National Cemetery on Sunday, May 26. Finally, Memorial Day marchers will meet at the intersection of Main and Centerville Streets at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and go to the Beechwood Cemetery and to the Monument Square for a dedication.
BEDFORD
At 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, parade participants will meet at The American Legion Hall (357 Great Road, Bedford) and then proceed to Shawsheen Cemetery for Memorial Day services. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. in front of the Bedford Town Hall.
BELMONT
A Memorial Day parade is planned for Monday, May 28, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in Cushing Square. The parade will proceed to the Belmont Cemetery. Ceremonies will follow at the cemetery.
BEVERLY
There will be two parades on Monday, May 28. The first parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Beverly Farm. The second parade begins downtown at 1:30 p.m.
BILLERICA
On Saturday, May 26, flags will be placed on veterans' graves in various town cemeteries. There is a Memorial Day parade planned for Monday, May 28. It will begin at 10am at the Marshal Middle School and end in Billerica Center. A ceremony at the library will follow the parade.
BOSTON
The city will hold Memorial Day services at Sgt. Charles A. MacGillivary Veterans Memorial Park on the Fenway from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
BRAINTREE
On Sunday, May 27, all veterans are invited to assemble at the DAV on 788 Liberty Street at 6:30 a.m. All participants will then proceed to the following ceremonial sites for memorial services: American Legion Post 86 Memorial, Elm Street Cemetery, Quincy Avenue Bridge, Braintree Police Memorial, Braintree Cemetery, VFW Post 1702 Memorial, Pond Street Cemetery, and Vietnam Memorial at town hall. At 11 a.m., there will be a ceremony at the Garden of Honor at Blue Hill Cemetery. In case of inclement weather, brief memorial services will be conducted in the Horace T. Cahill auditorium in town hall at 11:30 a.m.
BRIDGEWATER
The Memorial Day parade will start at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the intersection of Route 18 at Stetson Street. The parade will end at the War Memorial at the town common. There will be ceremonies held at four different cemeteries in Bridgewater from 8:30 AM on. The cemeteries are: Mount Prospect Hill, Center Street Cemetery, St. Thomas Aquinas, and the Old Town Cemetery.
BROOKLINE
Four different ceremonies, including readings, firing squads, and musical performances, will be held on Monday, May 28. The events will happen at the Grand Army of the Republic monument, the Walnut Hills Cemetery, the Brookline Revolutionary Cemetery, and conclude at the World War Monument in front of Town Hall. CAMBRIDGE
A Memorial Day parade is planned for Monday, May 28. The parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. from the Cambridge common and conclude at the Cambridge Cemetery on Coolidge Ave. Following the parade, at approximately 11 a.m., there will be a Memorial Day observance at the cemetery, including musical selections, a reading from the mayor, and a rifle salute. The Women's Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with local elected officials, will then hold a brief memorial ceremony at the Weeks Bridge in honor of the servicemen and women who were lost at sea. After these events, a collation hosted by the Cambridge Veterans Organization, will be held at the V.F.W. Mt. Auburn Post, #8818, located at 688 Huron Ave.
CHELMSFORD
Chelmsford's Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the American Legion Hall.
COHASSET
The Memorial Day parade is scheduled for Monday, May 28. It will start at the town center at 11 a.m.
CONCORD
There will be a flag-raising ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the Rideout Playground in West Concord. Everyone will then march to Kenneth Dunn Square for a ceremony, speeches, and salute by the Concord Minutemen. A small parade will begin at noon at the corner of Ash and Bedford Streets. The singing WWI Doughboys, the Concord Independant Battery, the Concord Minutemen, the Concord VFW and all Concord veterans, town officers, and others will march. The parade proceeds toward the center on Route 62, stopping for a short prayer, music, taps, musket and cannon fire at St. Bernard and Sleepy Hollow Cemeteries. There will be a pause after Sleepy Hollow in Monument Square to read the names of all Concord servicemen who have lost their lives in any war. Wreaths will be laid at all the monuments in the square.
DENNIS
The Memorial Day Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the Johnny Kelly Park off Bob Crowly Road and ends at the town hall with a ceremony.
DORCHESTER
On Monday, May 28, there will be a parade at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester. The parade and ceremonies will start at the Lower Mills at 10 a.m. and end around 11:45 a.m. The mayor has traditionally attended these events.
DUXBURY
Memorial Day Parade participants will assemble between 8:45 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the Miles Standish Cemetery. The parade will end at the First Parish Church for a ceremony.
EASTHAM
The Memorial Day parade begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28, on the steps of town hall.
FALL RIVER
The Memorial Day parade will start at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 28, at Kennedy Park on South Main St. The marchers will head down South Main St. to North Main St., and the parade will ends at the Veterans Municipal Auditorium for a ceremony.
GLOUCESTER
The Memorial Day parade begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Gloucester High School. Participants will march to the WW2 Memorial Monument for ceremony and then to the Vietnam Monument for a ceremony. There will be a luncheon following the parade at the veterans' center.
HARWICH
The Memorial Day ceremony starts at 9:45 a.m. at the gazebo in Brooks Park.
HINGHAM
The Memorial Day ceremony and parade begin at 11a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the high school. The parade will continue on to Veterans Memorial Park.
KINGSTON
The Memorial Day parade begins at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the Vineyard Christian Church and ends at town hall on Evergreen St. There will be a cookout after the parade.
LAWRENCE
Lawrence's Memorial Day ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at St. Mary's Cemetery.
LEXINGTON
On Monday, May 28, there will be a 9 a.m. service at Westview Cemetery, 201 Bedford St. The group will then go to the School Administration Building for the parade through town. Events will include: the Lexington Minute Men placing a memorial wreath at the tomb of Thomas Cosgrove; a waving of the flag by the Lexington Minute Men color guard; a reading of General Logans Orders of the Day and the recitation of Lincolns Gettysburg Address; a hymn by the Lexington High School band and taps and echo by the Lexington High School buglers. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held at 10 a.m. in Cary Hall.
LINCOLN
At 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28, Lincoln's American Legion (Post 84) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 5239) will gather at Bemis Hall and lead a march down the hill to the Lincoln Public Library. Other veterans and civilians of all ages are invited to join the march. At the library, Girl Scouts will lay the Memorial Wreath. A firearms salute and taps will be delivered, followed by an invocation, keynote speaker, recognition of all veterans, and the singing of the national anthem. If it rains, the ceremony will take place inside Bemis Hall on Bedford Road.
LOWELL
At 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, there will a ceremony at the Franco-American War Veterans Monument and at the Joseph R. Ouelette Monument at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelmsford. At 10:30 a.m., there will be a roll call of the dead at Ladd Whitney Monument at City Hall, and at 11:30 a.m., there will be a memorial service honoring all deceased veterans at the Lowell Veterans Memorial Auditorium.
The following ceremonies are planned for Sunday, May 27: At 10 a.m., there will be a ceremony at VFW Post 662 on Plain St.; at noon, there will be a ceremony at the Polish American Veterans hall on Coburn St.; at 1 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the Greek American Legion, Post 1, monument at the corner of Broadway and Dummer Streets, with a buffet and photo display to follow; and at 1:30 p.m., there will be a Korean War Veterans remembrance at the Joseph R. Ouelette Monument at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Chelmsford.
And on Monday, May 28, various masses will be held to honor veterans.
LYNN
Lynn's Memorial Day parade will form on Market Street at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 28. Marchers will step off at 1:30 p.m., and the parade will end at the Pine Grove Cemetery Main Gate.
LYNNFIELD
The Memorial Day parade begins at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Our Lady of Assumption Parking Lot, goes through several cemeteries for services, and ends at the fire station. The participants will assemble again at the middle school at 10 a.m. and march to the final ceremony at the common. If it rains, the program will be held at 10 a.m. at the middle school.
MALDEN
Malden's Memorial Day parade, sponsored by Veterans' Services, assembles at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Malden Square and ends at city hall.
MARBLEHEAD
The Memorial Day service begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the Old Town House and proceeds to Tucker's Wharf. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Old Town House and end at Waterside Cemetery with another ceremony.
MARSHFIELD
A Memorial Day parade is scheduled for Monday, May 28. It will start at 11 a.m. at the South River School, and end at the library plaza.
MATTAPAN
On Sunday, May 27, there will be a short parade at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mattapan from 11 a.m. to noon.
MEDFORD
A Memorial Day service is planned for Monday, May 28, at 10 a.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery.
MILTON
The Memorial Day parade will start at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the town hall. Marchers will head to Milton Cemetery, where a brief ceremony will be held after the parade.
NATICK
On Thursday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m., participants will decorate veterans' graves with flags at the Old Dell Park Cemetery on Pond St. And at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, participants will decorate the graves with geraniums. On both days, volunteers should meet at the entrance at the cemetery.
NEW BEDFORD
Memorial Day parade marchers should mee at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the intersection of Union St. and Rockdale Ave. The parade will step off at 11:30 a.m. and end at the New Bedford Public Library around noon.
NEEDHAM
There will be a string of ceremonies on Monday, May 28: 6:50 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church; 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church; 9:45 am at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; and 10:30 a.m. at the Needham Cemetery. The town parade will kick off at 11 a.m. at Nehoiden Glen, and proceed to the town common. There will be a flagraising at the common at 11:15 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., the parade will reform on Highland Ave and proceed to Needham Memorial Park -- where there will be another flag raising at 11:45 a.m. There will be ice cream cups for children after the parade and ceremonies.
NEWTON
Newton's Memorial Day parade was held last weekend. On Sunday, May 27, there will be a ceremony at American Legion Post 440, and veterans will walk to the Pvt. Richard Forte Memorial in Allison Park and Master Sgt. Domenic Marrocco Memorial at the Post 440. From there, ceremonies will also take place at Coletti/Magni Memorial Park on Watertown Street; the John F. Kennedy Memorial at J.F.K Circle; the Pfc. Ernrico Pagnano Bridge at Lewis Street; and the Sgt. W. Wallace Richards Bridge at the Church St. Bridge. Ceremonies conclude at about 11:30 AM at the Veterans Memorial Park on Washington St., opposite Our Ladys Church. At noon there will be a ceremony at Newton Cemetery. Wreaths will be hung.
NORWELL
Memorial Day parade marchers will converge at the intersection of Lincoln and Main Streets between 10 and 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, and march to Norwell's town center. A ceremony will be held after the parade.
PLYMOUTH
Plymouth's Memorial Day parade will kick off at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Shirley Square and end at Memorial Hall at 11 a.m.
QUINCY
This year's Memorial Day parade will start at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at St. John's Church on School St., and continue to Mount Wollaston Cemetery at the corner of C St. and 7th Artery.
RANDOLPH
Randolph's Memorial Day events will start with an 8:30 a.m. mass on Sunday, May 27, at St. Bernadette's Church. At 8 a.m. on Monday, May 28, Randolph veterans and Elks will gather at the Town Hall, and at 8:30 a.m., there will be a procession to Randolph Square and then to the library. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Randolph Library and proceed to Central Cemetery where another service will be held at approximately 10:45 a.m. A meatloaf dinner will be held at the VFW following the ceremonies.
READING
From 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 28, there will be a 250th birthday celebration for Reading Revolutionary, Sgt. Joshua Eaton Jr., at the school grounds of the Joshua Eaton school.
REVERE
There will be a Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 28, on the American Legion lawn.
ROCKLAND
A Memorial Day parade is planned for Monday, May 28. Marchers will meet at Summit Ave., and the parade will step off at 10 a.m. and go to the cemetery for an invocation. The parade will end at Union Square, and the whole ceremony lasts about an hour and a half.
SALEM
A parade and ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at the corner of North and Commerical Streets, and end at Green Lawn Cemetery with a service.
SAUGUS
The Memorial Day parade, organized by Veterans' Services, will assemble at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Cliftondale Square. The parade will end at Saugus Center with a dedication ceremony.
SOMERVILLE
The Memorial Day parade will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, at Somerville High School, and end with a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Broadway St. The parade will feature marching bands, elected officials, Shriners, color guards, and more. Morning ceremonies will begin at 8 a.m., with a procession of veterans organizations and elected officials down Highland Avenue and stops at several memorials.
STOUGHTON
There is a Memorial Day parade planned for Monday, May 28, at 9 a.m. The parade will step off from the Public Works on Central Street and proceed to the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery for two ceremonies. From there, marchers will go to the Pearl Street Cemetery for a ceremony; to the Stoughton Town Hall for a ceremony and wreath laying at the Memorial Bell; through Stoughton Square to Faxon Veterans Memorial Park for ceremonies at the two memorials; and finally, to Washington Street and onto Evergreen Cemetery for two ceremonies at the G.A.R. Lot and the American Legion Burial site.
SUDBURY
Sudbury's Memorial Day parade steps off from the Rugged Bear Plaza on Boston Post Rd., at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28. The parade will head down Route 20 to Concord Road and Goodnow Library, and then on to Wadsworth Cemetery with memorial services at each of Sudbury's war memorial sites. The parade concludes with ceremonies at Grinnell Park in the town center at 11 a.m.
Then, at 11:25 a.m., parade marshall, Charlie Pepper, a WWII veteran, will give a speech at the Sudbury Town Hall, on Concord Rd. The names of Sudbury veterans who died since last Memorial Day will also be read. There will also be music from the Sudbury Senior Strutters.
TAUNTON
There will be ceremonies on Monday, May 28, starting at 10 a.m. at the Mayflower Hill Cemetery in honor of Civil War veterans and also at the WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, and Desert Storm Memorials. The Memorial Day parade will start at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Adams Streets. The parade will end in front of town hall. There will also be a collation at the VFW following the parade.
WALTHAM
A Gold Star Mothers Ceremony is planned for 9 a.m. on Monday, May 28, on the Prospect Street Bridge. This ceremony will be followed by a Memorial Day program at the Waltham common at 10 a.m.
WATERTOWN
There are several events planned in Watertown for Memorial Day weekend. On Saturday, May 26, flags will be placed on veterans' graves and memorial wreaths on sites around town. On Sunday, May 27, there will be a memorial service and veterans' mass at 10 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Church on Main Street. All veterans and members of veteran organizations and auxiliaries are invited to attend this memorial service. There will be a formation at the front of the church at 9:55 a.m. with a procession into the church following. And on Monday, May 28, the Memorial Day parade will step off at noon from the Tufts Health Care parking lot on Arlington and Grove Streets and proceed down Mount Auburn Street to Main Street, and end at Saltonstall Park with a brief service.
WELLFLEET
There will be a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 28 from 8:30 to 11a.m. on the town hall lawn.
WESTFORD
Westford's schedule of Memorial Day observances on Sunday, May 27, includes: Cameron Senior Center, on Pleasant St., at 8 a.m.; Forge Pond, Lake Mattawanakee on Pond St., at 9 a.m.; Forge Village Honor Roll on West Prescott St., at 9:15 a.m.; Graniteville Monument on North Main St., at 9:45 a.m.; and Nabnassett Lake on Oak Hill Rd., at 10:45 a.m. Then, there will be an hour of reflection and at 11 a.m. at the Westford town common. A parade will step off at noon from Westford center. If it rains, all events will be rescheduled for Monday, May 28.
WEYMOUTH
On Monday, May 28, the day's events begin at 9:15 a.m. with a Korean War Memorial Ceremony at Jackson Square. At 9:45 AM the parade will start at Broad and Middle Streets and conclude at 11 a.m. with a ceremony at the Civic Center next to town hall. If it rains, a brief ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Abigail Adams School Auditorium, 89 Middle St.
WOBURN
Woburn's Memorial Day parade, hosted by the United Veterans Council of Woburn, will form at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 28, at Central Bank (across from the old armory). The parade will proceed to Woburn Common for a ceremony and then on to Woodbrook and Calvary cemeteries at 8:45 a.m.
