    Mayor Thomas M. Menino is expected to announce that he will end his run as mayor of the city of Boston.

    He may be best known as the “Urban Mechanic,” who made a career of the politics of filling potholes, fixing broken street lights, and racing tirelessly from ribbon cutting to ribbon cutting.

    South Boston, MA., 03/20/12, The Homes at Old Colony had a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony today. Mayor Thomas Menino, cq, had help with the ribbon cutting from the Tierney family. A new 10,000 square foot learning center and outdoor play space has been named after the former Boston City Council President Joseph M. Tierney, cq, who passed away in 2009. He grew up in the Old Colony Development. Next to the mayor is Tierney's wife, Pat, next to her is daughter Dierdre Pulgini Tierney, cq, her three children, Jack, 11, Kate, 9, Nick, 5.     The Homes at Old Colony had a ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony in March 2012. The outdoor play space was named after former Boston city Council President Joseph M. Tierney. Tierney’s daughter, actress Maura Tierney, attended.

    7/18/2011 - Brighton, MA - Engine Company 51 - City of Boston fire officials as well as Mayor Thomas M. Menino (holding scissors) held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially reopen the Engine Company 51 firehouse, located in the Oak Square section of Brighton, after a nearly $3 million upgrade.
