Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis is the featured speaker at UMass Lowell’s undergraduate commencement on May 18.
Marty Meehan, chancellor at UMass Lowell, called Davis “a symbol of strength” during the Boston Marathon bombings, in a news release.
Prior to becoming the head of the Boston Police Department, Davis was superintendent of the Lowell Police Department.
An expected 3,169 graduates will walk in the commencement ceremony, scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Tsongas Center.
