The Immigrant Learning Center in Malden will be hosting its annual awards dinner to recognize the work of entrepreneurs from overseas. The 2013 Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards are given through the organization’s Public Education Institute.
The awards were created in 2003 in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to draw attention to the positive contributions of immigrants. The winners in three categories — neighborhood business, business growth, and science and technology — will be announced at an event Wednesday on May 8 in Cambridge.
Pictured is Muhmud Jafri, from Pakistan, who was nominated for the outstanding neighborhood business award. His company is Dover Rug & Home in Natick.
