Local officials plan to seek bids for demolition and reconstruction work as part of the Thompson Elementary School project within the next month, according to Superintendent Kathleen Bodie. Work to demolish the 55-year-old elementary school will begin later this year and construction of the new building will begin next year, she said. The state will reimburse the town for almost half of the $20 million project. While the work is underway, students from the Thompson School will be going to the Stratton, Bishop, and Hardy schools.
