Wally
The mascot, who debuted in 1997, is a familiar figure around the ballpark and is popular with children. He also makes appearances at school functions, parades, holiday parties, and corporate and charity functions.
His official Red Sox website lists his height as “pretty big” and his weight as “doesn’t like to say.”
In 2012, he went missing, causing a panic across the city. A Fenway Park security officer reported a costume missing, which sparked a mascot-hunt. However, the costume was recovered when it was discovered that a team employee had decided to take the costume out ot “spread some good cheer” around the city without authorization. Or in the movie, maybe it was a distraction from some Fenway Park robbery? But that’s already been done in “The Town,” which was directed by Ben Affleck.
