Local landmarks you may have missed

The Engine 34 firehouse at 444 Western Avenue in Allston opened in 1888 as the quarters of the then newly-organized Engine Company 34. The red brick Romanesque Revival style building served the northern portion of Allston‐Brighton. The station was in operation until Engine 34 disbanded in 1981. The building, listed to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, is now privately owned and known as Engine House Studios.
