The Neponset Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bird Middle School, 625 Washington St. Registration for the 3.5-mile walk begins at 9 a.m. The event is part of a national one aimed at raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association, which is dedicated to eliminating the disease through research and providing care and support for victims and their families. According to the association, about 5.2 million people suffer from Alzheimer’s and it is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. The association reports that since 1989, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s has raised more than $347 million in nearly 600 communities nationwide. - Johanna Seltz![]()
