Municipal elections will be held today in 53 Massachusetts cities and towns, including Boston, Cambridge, and Springfield. In every case, the outcome will be of crucial importance to the quality and integrity of local services, including public education, tax issues, land use, and road maintenance. That’s a significant payback for the minimal investment of time required to go to the polls. Voters in Boston and other communities where apathy is expected to win tomorrow would be wise to prove the pundits wrong.
