Civil War in Boston: The Freedom Trail Tour

Released in 2011 to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War, the book “Walking Tours of Civil War Boston” features historic strolls through three city neighborhoods. Written by Supreme Judicial Court attorney Barbara F. Berenson and Appeals Court Justice R. Marc Kantrowitz, the book shows that while Boston is best known for its role in the American Revolution, it was also a center of the Abolitionist Movement, the home of the famed 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry of black soldiers, and a part of many other events in the war that tore the nation asunder.
