Famous folks from Beacon Hill

Jack Welch The corporate icon has lived in the historic Nathan Appleton House on Beacon Street that once was the headquarters for the Women's City Club of Boston. He was born in Peabody and grew up in Salem. Welch, known also as 'Neutron Jack' for his willingness to cut jobs, is the former chairman and CEO of General Electric Co. He's credited for the company's rise to prominence. Welch recently appeared as himself on the NBC show '30 Rock,'' slapping Alec Baldwin's CEO character (also in charge of General Electric) for showing emotion.
