Nine things to know about Charlestown

Charlestown was featured in 'Common Ground,' a Pulitzer Prize winning book by J. Anthony Lukas on how the busing of Boston school students affected three different families. The book later became a made-for-TV film, released in 1990. The McGoffs, one of the three families featured in the book, lived in Charlestown, with the children often hanging around the Bunker Hill Monument. In this 1989 file photo, actress Jane Curtin, left, talks with the woman she played in the film, Alice McGoff.
