The Boston Police Department celebrated the graduation of 38 new recruits. At a ceremony at the IBEW Hall in Dorchester, Mayor Thomas Menino and Police Commissioner Edward F. Davis congratulated the men and women who will soon be hitting the beat after their rigorous six-month Police Academy course. “I am very grateful to your commitment,’’ Menino said. “I never lose sight of your incredible service and dedication. . . . You are joining the finest police department in this country.’’
