Transitions of downtown Boston

An upscale Walgreens store will take over the spot left empty by a Borders Bookstore. The 24,000 square-foot store will feature fresh hand-rolled sushi, a juice bar, and hair and nail salon.
It won't be typical of its normal neighborhood drugstores. Instead, it will model the Downtown Crossing location after two it recently opened in New York City and Chicago.
Previously, the Borders was one of the now-bankrupt chains most profitable locations, its 40,000 square feet often crammed with book lovers.
