Downtown Boston, including Downtown Crossing and Fanueil Hall, have seen many turbulent times in recent years. Recently, developer Millennium Parters took control of Filene's property. They plan to build retail stores, office spaces and residences . The proposed replacement building could be as tall as 600 feet, rivaling the tallest buildings in the city’s Financial District.
