What's next
A new fleet of train cars to replace the aging Red Line system is planned, according to the MBTA's latest capital investment program document.
No details have been released on the specifications or when to expect the new subway line cars. But of all the MBTAs tunnels, the Red Line has the most buffer space surrounding trains, giving it the most room for potential experiments with new trains or types of locomotion.
