BRAINTREE, Mass.—Police say a 13-year-old Plymouth boy is facing multiple motor vehicle charges after crashing a minivan he was driving into the front of a Braintree rug company.

Authorities tells The Patriot Ledger the incident started Wednesday morning when the boy allegedly fled from a state trooper after striking a pickup truck on Route 3 North.

Braintree police spotted the minivan, but when an officer tried to get the driver to stop, he allegedly ran a red light and drove an estimated 60 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. The van then ran into the rug company, causing about $5,000 worth of cosmetic damage.

The driver was unconscious when pulled from the vehicle and was treated at a hospital. Police did not say why the boy was driving the van.
