Over the years the Booksmith’s author series has made for memorable evenings. Who can forget the accordion player who entertained folks waiting for Annie Proulx to sign “Accordion Crimes’’? Or Judy Collins’s a capella rendition of “Amazing Grace’’? Appearing this week are “Wicked’’ series author Gregory Maguire, National Book Award winner Ha Jin, and Israeli novelist Amos Oz. To celebrate the store’s 50th anniversary, it is offering a 20 percent discount on different categories on five successive days, ending with paperbacks on Saturday.
