Hanse has been selected as the architect for the 2016 Rio course, and has been assisted by Owen Larkin, who developed the Vineyard Golf Club, which bills itself as the most environmentally sensitive golf course in the world. That caught the eye of Rio Olympic officials, who have made environmental sustainability an important directive for the 2016 Games.
