The number of state pensioners collecting $100,000 is rising, Globe finds

The Globe's Matt Carroll has scrutinized the state's pension program and discovered the number of state retirees who take home more than $100,000 has increased dramatically between 2003 and this year, climbing from 33 to 145.

State Police have the most retirees on the list, with 43. The University of Massachusetts Amherst has second most, with 36. Tops on the list is Dr. Arthur Pappas, retired from the UMass Medical School, with a pension of more than $232,000.
