Kaling’s funny lists, essays stand up to scrutiny
Mindy Kaling is best known for playing the manipulative, boy-crazy Kelly Kapoor on NBC’s “The Office,’’ and to her distress is often assumed to be just like her character. So in her book Kaling makes lists to school readers on the differences. Such lists comprise so much of Kaling’s work that it feels less like a book than a stand-up routine, which is fine, as it’s a very funny routine.
