Smarter ways to burn calories
Toning tips from a weight-loss doc.
1. Don’t try to target “problem areas” – it’s physically impossible, says Dedham-based cosmetic surgeon and weight-loss specialist Dr. Dave David. “You have no say where fat comes off,” he explains.
Instead, spend your exercise time focused on burning calories.
2. Try interval training. A 20-minute workout of 30-second sprints alternated with 60 seconds of super-slow jogging burns more calories than a 20-minute run.
3. Thirsty yet? Good. Drink eight glasses of ice water daily – and the ice is key. You’ll burn 250 calories just bringing the fluids up to body temperature.![]()
