FRAMINGHAM | BRIEFS
The new Fountain Street bridge over the railroad tracks opened last week, ending months of detours. The $2.3 million project was expected to wrap up in September, but was delayed by Tropical Storm Irene and other complications. The project was conducted as part of the state’s Accelerated Bridge Program, a $3 billion effort to repair or replace more than 200 structurally deficient bridges with minimal disruptions. The bridge still needs some finishing touches, and will be closed intermittently during off-peak traffic hours, according to the state. - Megan McKee![]()
