Reggie Cesar, Quincy: The sophomore back/outside linebacker blocked an extra point, then a field goal attempt with five seconds remaining to help lift the Presidents to their first win on the season, 27-26 over Pembroke. “He’s a very fast kid,’’ coach Bill Reardon said. “He’s quick off the edge, and fearless too. He’s not afraid to put himself out there for the blocks.’’
Casey DeAndrade, East Bridgewater: The Vikings’ sophomore back ran for 147 yards on 16 carries and had three first-half touchdowns in a 32-14 win over Cardinal Spellman. He also returned a punt 70 yards for another TD. “He shows us new stuff every week,’’ coach Shawn Tarpey said. “He has good football instincts; he hits the holes very hard.’’
Alex Furtado, Archbishop Williams: The Bishops’ junior tailback tallied three touchdowns and ran for 208 yards as the Bishops handed Watertown its first loss of the season, 36-12.
Sean Griffith, Marshfield: Coach Lou Silva called his senior “a one-man show’’ as the Rams took down previously unbeaten Plymouth North, 13-0. Griffith had two touchdown runs in the fourth quarter (7 yards and 58 yards) and also kicked the extra point. “He goes all out. On offense, defense, special teams, he just continually goes full speed,’’ Silva said.
Brett Wheeler, Hanover: In the Indians’ 38-13 victory over Middleborough, the senior running back racked up three touchdowns and kicked a field goal.
