Pictures of famous figures from Medford

Amelia Earhart The legendary pilot who disappeared somewhere over the Pacific Ocean in July 1937 lived in Medford for a period of time with her mother. She became a social worker and joined the Boston Chapter of the National Aeronautic Association, helped fund an airport in Boston and promoted flying for women. The Boston Globe once called her 'one of the best women pilots in the United States.' It might have been because she allowed one of our reporters to fly with her to Boston from New York.
