Elias Marcus Loew Loew started out as an usher in New York City but eventually moved to Boston, where he remained. He bought his first theatre in Lynn and bought or opened several more, eventually leading to the Loew's chain that everyone knows today. The lion statues at his former Milton estate remind visitors that he was a co-founder of MGM studios.
