The Needham-based Boston Foundation for Sight has named former Shriners Hospital executive William C. Austin as its new head of philanthropy. The Foundation for Sight is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve the quality of life for patients with corneal disease and their families. Austin has directed philanthropic efforts at Heifer International Foundation, Tampa Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Save the Children. As the foundation’s new chief advancement officer, Austin will oversee philanthropic outreach that will provide financial support for patients and expand the availability of vision-restoring treatment nationally.
