By Mayor-Elect Mike Cahill

Since election night, I have been working hard to accomplish a smooth transition in leadership between the administration of Mayor Scanlon and my administration.  I would like to first thank Mayor Scanlon, our city employees and City Council for their hard work.

It is now time to look to the future.  You elected me to lead the city through exciting times.  I believe it is vital for my administration to be prepared and ready to work on behalf of the citizens of Beverly starting on Inauguration Day this January 6th.

I have conducted meetings with Mayor Scanlon and city staff members including the newly named Police Chief and the interim Superintendent of Schools as well as other leaders and members of our community.  These meetings have been productive as they have provided the transfer of important information as well as timely updates.

I ran on a campaign of transparency and inclusion.  To that end, I will be communicating with you through weekly updates such as this one. As we get closer to my inauguration date, I will be keeping you posted on our progress and the initiatives we will be implementing early in my new administration.

Lastly, consistent with my vision to open city government to the public, I invite all interested parties to become a direct part of building a better city.  Beverly always needs volunteers to serve on a host of boards and commissions, as well as on any ad-hoc committees that may be formed for specific purposes. If you are interested in serving, please contact me at mayorcahill@bevelyma.gov.  I welcome your input and involvement.

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving with family and friends.  And I thank you for your support.
