The following was submitted by the Mayor-elect Mike Cahill:

It has been a busy week.  In addition to managing the transition of the Executive Director Position I currently hold with the Massachusetts YMCAs, I have had the pleasure of attending two conferences for new mayors.  The first conference in November included presentations on state economic trends.  Last Saturday, the seminar speakers included Mayor Kim Driscoll from Salem and Mayor Rob Dolan from Melrose.  Eight new mayors will be taking office across Massachusetts this January. I am encouraged by the support and resources being made available to mayors-elect such as myself.

Closer to home, I am pleased to report we have posted employment listings for the City Solicitor, Finance Director and Planning Director positions.  I have been meeting with qualified candidates with the goal of placing nominations before the new City Council on January 6th.
I have also met with numerous elected officials, city employees, local business owners and residents.  Their insight and collaboration has been helpful as we move towards a new administration.  In addition, my transition team had a productive meeting this past Tuesday with Mayor Scanlon and his key advisors.

I am pleased to report the transition is progressing forward and my administration will be ready to serve effectively starting January 6th.  I will be delivering a statement this Thursday at my Volunteer Appreciation Event that will preview my administrationís vision and key initiatives.  I encourage you to find my remarks on my website (www.cahillformayor.com).
I thank you for your support, and I wish you a happy holiday season.
