A Brighton man was arrested for allegedly killing his roommates’ pet rabbit, according to Boston Police.

At about 2 p.m. Wednesday, officers said they went to a residence on Union Street in Brighton where they were met by a man who said his wife had been arguing with their roommate.

The roommate, later identified as 36-year-old Alfredo Orosco, allegedly told the wife during the argument that he was going to kill her family’s pet rabbit, the husband told police.

Officers went inside the residence and saw an empty rabbit cage, according to police

When officers and the husband then tried to get into the Orosco’s bedroom, Orosco opened the door and assaulted the husband, police said.

Orosco then hit an officer in the face when the official tried to intervene, police said.

After a brief struggle, officers arrested Orosco, authorities said.

Later, officers found the couple’s pet rabbit was dead, according to police.

Orosco will face charges of cruelty to animals, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest, police said.
