A tradition will continue in Dorchester, as residents don swimsuits and jump into Dorchester Bay to celebrate the New Year and raise money for the Leahy-Halloran Community Center.
Now in its third-year, the "polar plunge" from Tenean Beach has become a community favorite, with close to 100 participants last year.
This year’s plunge, set for Wednesday, will officially kick off at 11 a.m. with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m.
A $15 donation is suggested and participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
Following the event, a pizza party, sponsored by the Phillips Family of Restaurants, will be held.
Tenean Beach is located at approximately 162-186 Conley St. in Dorchester’s Port Norfolk neighborhood.
