South Bostonís L Street Brownies and supporters of the swimming club will continue the tradition of jumping into the icy waters of Dorchester Bay to celebrate the New Year.
The organization, which bills itself as the oldest polar bear club in the United States, will take the plunge from the Curley Community Center Wednesday, January 1, to support the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund.
Registration, which is open to the public, begins at 8 a.m. at the community center, located at 1163 Columbia Road.
The plunge will begin at 9:30 a.m.
At past plunges the water temperature has hovered around the mid-30s.
There is no fee, but a donation is encouraged.
The annual swim, which sees hundreds of participants every year, is dedicated to past and recently deceased Brownies.
