The Mystic Valley Girls' basketball team opened their season Friday night with a convincing 66-23 win over Lynn Tech. The girls were led offensively by junior Jessica Phinney's 18 points and Sophomore Meghan Foley's 13 points, 9 rebounds, 8 steals and 4 assists. Eighth grader Menel Lamadzema added 9 points, senior Tania Fabo scored 8 and sophomore Sarina Charles had 6.

The night continued what was a rewarding day as starting senior center, and 4 year team member Tania Fabo received her acceptance to Harvard earlier in the day. Coach Jason Cantwell added "Tania is everything you look for in a student- athlete at Mystic Valley, she is not only a great athlete, but a tremendous, well-rounded student. She is involved in as many student groups and clubs as time will allow. It is a tremendous honor for her personally, and her fellow team members were more proud of Tania for being accepted on Friday, than the teamís performance".

The girls will return to the court Friday night, 5:30 at Greater Lowell in a rematch of the MIAA quarterfinals.
