By the summer of 2014, South Boston will be the home to the city’s newest indoor rock climbing gym.

Rock Spot Climbing recently announced its plans to open a location at 30 Old Colony Ave.

“The South Boston location will showcase a fully-stocked retail outlet, host outdoor guided trips, and offer member-only discount packages,” Lary Norin, co-owner of Rock Spot, said in a statement. “Rock Spot gyms have become a cultural and social haven for the communities we serve and the South Boston location will be no exception.”

The company is already operating gyms in Hyde Park, Lincoln, RI, and South Kingston, RI.

The Old Colony location is expected to operate from 10 a.m. to midnight, with climbing options for all ages and abilities.
