One firefighter was injured and eight residents were displaced after a four-alarm fire broke out this morning at a three-decker on Chester Street in Allston, according to a fire official.

The firefighter was injured by an electrical shock and transported to Brigham Women's Hospital for evaluation.

"It will be several months before anyone is back living in there," said Steve MacDonald, spokesman for the Boston Fire Department. He said about 125 firefighters responded to the call.

MacDonald said officials were alerted around 4:33 a.m. The fire, which is under control, started in the basement of the house at 110 Chester St., got into the walls and traveled throughout the building, making its way to the roof.

He estimated the damage cost at $500,000.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
