Boston school officials announced this afternoon they are investigating an allegation of inappropriate involvement between a staff member and a student at Brighton High School.

“Allegations of this type of behavior are deeply troubling and violate the trust that our parents and students place in us,” according to a statement from the School Department. “The well-being of our students is our top priority and this type of behavior by staff will not be tolerated.”

The School Department became aware of the allegation last week and has since taken appropriate administrative action, the statement read.

Matthew Wilder, a School Department spokesman, declined to say this afternoon what action was taken or if the staff member was placed on leave.

“We want to make sure we have a solid investigation before we make comments,” Wilder said. “We take any allegation very seriously and we want to see what took place if anything.”
