Refuge Cafe in Allston will showcase its first local artist reception on Thurs., July 19, from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Paintings by local artist Massiel Grullon, a student at the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly, will be featured during the event.

Grullon also draw caricatures and will do face paintings during the reception, which will also feature cocktails, DJ Dandy Dan and representatives Cambridge-based Grillo’s Pickles and from High & Mighty Beer Co., which is based in Holyoke.

Admission is open to those 21 and older with valid identification, costs $5 at the door and includes a beer ticket. For more information about the event, click here.

The food and drink establishment hopes to host similar shows every couple of months along with arranging to have student work rotate on a more regular basis in its “Loo Gallery.”
