While reports of "crimes of a sexual nature" have held steady this year compared to last year, Transit Police have made more arrests for such crimes, according to the MBTA.

From the start of the year through Sept. 17, Transit Police made 43 arrests for one or more of the following charges: indecent assault and battery, open and gross behavior or wanton and lascivious conduct, T spokesman Joe Pesaturo said in an e-mail.

Through the same span last year, the number of reports of such crimes was identical to this year, at 67, he said. But, the number of arrests for those crimes was fewer, at 32.
