Olympic gold medal winner Kayla Harrison visited children at the Franciscan Hospital for Children in Brighton last week.

The Marblehead resident spoke Friday about her years of hard work and training, including at a facility in Wakefield, which paid off this summer in London when she became the first US judo athlete to win Olympic gold. Harrison brought her medal to show the children.

In the above photo, Harrison is seen with 3-year-old Aubry Davis, of Dorchester, and 2-year-old Abe Rudzinsky, of Arlington, holding the gold medal during a visit Oct. 12 to Franciscan Hospital for Children’s Medical Daycare.
