A community fund will begin accepting applications this week for a $25,000 grant to aid a beautification project in the Allston-Brighton area.
The fund backed by Boston College awards a project that has “a lasting impact in a visible location,” community support and a “dedicated” maintenance plan, according to a press release from a committee overseeing the Allston/Brighton-Boston College Community Fund.
Applications will be available starting Friday, April 5, and are due back by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
The fund will also soon make applications available for another community grant program.
Those spring-time grants award up to $3,000 each and are given to organizations, programs and projects based in Allston and Brighton. Special consideration is given to proposals that benefit youths, seniors and people in need.
Applications for those grants will be available starting Friday, April 12 and are due back by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10.
Applications for both of the grant programs will be available online at www.bc.edu/neighborhood or at the Boston College Neighborhood Center at 425 Washington St. in Brighton.
For more information, contact BC community affairs director William R. Mills, Jr. at 617-552-8661 or Boston College Neighborhood Center director Maria DiChiappari at 617-552-0445.
The Allston/Brighton-Boston College Community Fund was established by BC and the city of Boston in 2003.
