The charitable shopping spree was held on Wednesday, Aug. 14. New England Revolution players Kevin Alston and Kelyn Rowe, team mascot Slyde, and middle school students from the Gardner Pilot Academy school joined Dave Allen of Staples and Lynn Margherio, CEO and founder of Cradles to Crayons.

Two New England Revolution players, Kevin Alston and Kelyn Rowe, and the soccer team’s mascot Slyde recently joined nine middle school students from the Gardner Pilot Academy in Allston for a back-to-school charitable shopping spree at the Staples store in Brighton.

The items, donated in full by Staples through the Revolution’s school supply charity collection drive, will benefit Cradles to Crayons – a Brighton-based nonprofit that provides children living in homeless or low-income situations with essential items, including clothing, school supplies and toys.
