The Boston FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the recovery of two rifles stolen from a government vehicle in Andover.

The theft occurred sometime overnight between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, and items were stolen from other vehicles parked at nearby homes, according to the FBI.

The weapons are a Colt M16-A1 rifle and a HS Precision Pro-Series 2000 sniper rifle.

An FBI spokesman declined to reveal the details of how exactly the weapons were stolen, as that is part of the investigation into their recovery, and said those details would “possibly” be made public at some point in the future.
