Arlington will begin repairing a quarter-mile stretch of the Minuteman Bike Path today after it was damaged during heavy rains last month.

Flooding in mid March from the Arlington Reservoir washed out the ground beneath the path in some spots, causing the pavement to crumble.

The work, which is expected to cost about $150,000, was originally scheduled for last week, but was delayed by another storm.

A portion of the path from Hurd Field to the Veteran's Memorial Skating Rink will be closed for the remainder of the week while the work is underway.

If the work extends beyond Friday, the department of public works will attempt to open the path on the weekend with barricades around the trouble spots and repairs will resume next week.
